Today we venture into the world of the culinary coconut. Guests will be lead on Australia’s only coconut tour, not only do you get to drink & eat from the very young green coconut to the little known ‘coconut apple’ – you will also learn the truth about the health benefits of coconuts.

The English name coconut, first mentioned in English print in 1555, comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word coco, which means "monkey face." Spanish and Portuguese explorers found a resemblance to a monkey's face in the three round indented markings or "eyes" found at the base of the coconut.

Recipes are never ending for this most versatile ingredient whether your purpose is indulgence, detoxing or energising yourself with entrees, mains, desserts or drinks there will be something for you.

Once the coconut education is finished, its time to get down to work as our chef teaches the guests how to husk and prepare some simple dishes utilising the milk and meat from the coconut, amongst Thala’s very own Coconut Plantation.
