Rise & Shine!! The alarms will sound before the crack of dawn this morning with a pick up from the hotel scheduled for 5am. For the weary eyed, there will be some time to grab a little more shuteye during the 1-hour journey to Mareeba in the Atherton Tablelands.
Arriving at the launch site just in time to see the massive balloons take shape, a briefing on hot air ballooning takes place and then once given the all clear, its the group’s turn to launch and gently float high above.
Glorious 360° views are on offer once the balloons are up and away drifting high above the spectacular Tablelands. With knowledgeable balloon pilots and binoculars available onboard participants will be encouraged to keep their eyes out for kangaroo’s and local birdlife.
As the flight draws to an end, the ground crew will appear following every move to see where the balloon will land. It’s then all hands on deck and a group effort to pack up the balloon and this can be a fun experience with everyone jumping on the balloon to get all the air out.
With the balloon neatly packed away and stomachs sure to be rumbling it’s time for the group to recharge their batteries with a sumptuous buffet breakfast at The Australian Coffee Centre at Skybury. Skybury is Australia’s oldest coffee plantation and breakfast is enjoyed on the timber decks that offer superb views from the Centre.
With delegates and their appetites all satisfied after an early but gorgeous start to the day its time to reboard the coach for the 1-hour journey back to Cairns. Arrival time back to Cairns would be approximately 11.30am allowing plenty of time for delegates to freshen up for an afternoon conference session or enjoy some time at leisure.
