A visit to Coffee Roaster for a caffeine hit starts off the tour. Once an industrial space the venue has been divided into part roasting house and part café and is very popular with local businesses and passers by.  Here participants will experience the entire process of coffee roasting from a green bean all the way to the cup.

From Coffee Roaster, the group then makes their way on to Herbies Spices, an idea that owners Ian and Liz Hemphill thought of whilst holidaying on Daydream Island. A fruitful idea it turned out to be as Herbies Spices are now the biggest distributor of fresh Herbs and Spices in Australia! Participants enjoy smelling and learning about a variety of individual and blended herbs and spices and discover how with the right choice you can transform a snack into a mouth-watering taste sensation.

From Herbies the group moves on to P.R. Raineri, an authentic Italian Deli that’s been operating in Australia for over 60 years. Samplings of Italian meats, cheese, olives, antipasto items, breads & olive oil are all on offer at the deli. Owners Peter and Sarina began operating the deli 38 years ago and are now one of the most respected importers of Italian food in Sydney.

From the deli, it’s time to sweeten things up a bit as participants travel to Haberfield. The ‘little Italy’ of Sydney, Haberfield’s beautiful streetscape and preserved buildings highlight its rich history and its here that you will find the Australian owned family operation Colefax Chocolates.  Colefax uses European techniques with their chocolate imported from Belgium. Their large wholesale division services companies like David Jones and First Class Qantas passengers and today participants will sample some individual chocolate and learn what it is that makes Colefax chocolate so unique.

Now the day would not be complete with out sampling some beverages and the final stop of the day, Annandale Cellars provides just that.  Greeted by knowledgeable staff, that travel the nation and the globe in their pursuit for wines that are of excellent quality and made with love (not a chemistry set), share their passion and findings with the group offering samples of up to 4 wines that are new to their store.

With purchases of the day bursting out of their foodie bags, happy and satisfied after an amazing FOODIE’S BIG DAY OUT in Sydney, its time for participants to reboard their coach and transfer back to the hotel.
