Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, Queensland, Australia

Meeting in the hotel foyer at approximately 8.00am, the group will be greeted by their experienced guide and private vehicle ready to depart on a journey off the beaten track to the Atherton Tablelands.

Today’s experience is all about savouring exotic tastes and visiting small producers at private properties to learn about food's journey from the ground to the table.

Departing Cairns, the group travels up the scenic Kuranda Range to an award winning Tropical Fruit Winery, known for its still and fortified wines and delicious tropical creams.  After tasting, participants have the option to purchase product from the cellar door, before its time to depart to the next stop.

Arriving at a small, private macadamia plantation where the group will enjoy a private tour to taste and learn about how the farmers grow, harvest, and process this absolutely magnificent Australian rainforest nut.

Its then time to move on to a Country Hotel that dates back to 1885 for a fabulous Tropical Seafood lunch featuring fresh local produce. Those that do not favour seafood need not despair as the venue also offers alternates.

After lunch it’s off to a small family run coffee plantation where participants will get to savour the taste of this gourmet coffee as well as learn how the coffee is grown, processed and roasted, the traditional way.

From the coffee plantation its time for one last stop on the Tastebud Sensation through the Tablelands journey with a visit to a local ice-cream factory where the group will enjoy tasting the extraordinary ice-cream flavours produced at this property.

Satisfied the group then makes their way back to Cairns, having not only experienced the very best produce that the Tablelands has to offer, but also an insight and amazing information about the Atherton Tablelands and its people from the entertaining narration provided by their guide throughout the day.

Return time to the hotel would be approximately 5.15pm with time to freshen up for dinner.

Suggested group size: 21 participants (21 seater vehicles are used for this tour)
